Weird IIS Problem - HTML Forums

For some reason, one of my web servers is feeling it necessary to ask for a username/password when serving a php file. I've enabled the IUSR and "everyone" user to have even full permissions, and it's still asking for this. I've done an iisreset and everything. I've never seen this before and it's really getting irritating. Devshed was no help, I basically was blown off there by their ***hole moderator. Can someone here help me?

maybe iis isn't setup correctly to execute the exe that runs it?

IIS 6 ?

if I remember correctly with IIS - IUSR needs read, write and execute on the directory that PHP is installed in as well as the directory where the script is being called from.

that should be correct but those permissions by default should be inherited from the parent directory, however the php.exe that actually executes the file also needs to have the correct permissions

true - but doesn't the php.exe also inherit from its parent directory?

that greatly depends on how the admin setup permissions on the file system.

Usually I create a folder with no explicit permissions for users. then create sub folders with the user permissions to handle to stop users from accessing some data while not other
