Hardware level virtualization or software level virtualization

Please move this thread to the appropriate section if this is not a valid section to ask this question.

Which virtualization technology is better? Hardware level or software level? My friend suggested me to go for software level virtualization. However, I am still concerned about the technology as to which I should choose?

Thanks in advance.

Hardware level is better hands down. With software level there will be a ton of strain on your CPU taking care of that. With that said, software level is the cheaper option.

It all depends upon what you're trying to do. Are you working at a corporation and are going to have tons of VM's on this machine? You probably want to go the hardware route. Are you using this for personal use? Are you only going to have a couple of VM's that aren't on all the time? Going software level would be fine.

Thanks..I think Brustable RAM option will only be available with Software level virtualization while I will get fixed amount of RAM with Hardware level virtualization. Also, I will have to restart my hardware node each time if I make any changes in VM for hardware level. what do you think?

You should be able to get burstable ram with hardware or software level virtualization. It all depends upon what your VM sofware supports.

Also, you shouldn't have to restart your hardware node each time you make changes. My VM at work has been running for months and I have been making changes the whole time.
