Cannot Delete File On Desktop. - HTML Forums

Hi all,
I have only started using Windows XP Professional recently and already I am having a problem that I can't seem to find a way to resolve.

Recently I tried to exporting a MS Access file to a CSV comma delimited file. Somehow I did something wrong but still managed to get the file exported.

However, I notice that now I have a file on the desktop called "value", without any file extension or any description at all and when I tried to delete the file, I get a popup window with the following error :

Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.

No matter what I did, I simply cannot delete the file. I tried starting in Safe-Mode with Command Prompt and deleting it from the command prompt, but still I get the error.

Anyone can help me on how to delete the file from my desktop. Thanks.

Can you rename the file and give it an extension of anything eg .txt?

It sounds as though the file is no longer there but the reference remains. Either that, or your user account doesn't have any permissions on the file. Try logging in using the built in Administrator account and trying to delete it.
