I'm little more than a n00b, so i have a question. Theoretically, is there an internet language that would enable one to write a 2D side-scroller game with ascii art? I figured i could use marqees for the scrolling ascii background, and i could get "Mario" to be the mouse-icon. All that's left is the part where i'd need to assign a value for certain letters to redirect to a 'loser' page, and preferably a way to move an element up for a jump with the keyboard, but i doubt this is possible.

so is there a miracle language besides flash and preferably not javascript?
