www.digitalchalice.com Review needed
Please visit my first Web site design at http://www.digitalchalice.com NOTE: This is a very graphic/sound intensive site and will require either a cable modem connection or - patience - when you enter the first time Also you may be greeted by a page that tells you that you are missing Flash or Quicktime etc plugin and unfortunately you will not be able to enter without it. Some users of IE6 may experience some window image distortion (thnx Bill Gate$ !) All criticisms welcome and opinions about design, navigation etc will be welcome!
Thank you to all in advance

i'm sure it's probably a cool website, but using a source scrambler is always a bad idea. all i see is black (Moz 1.2/Win98SE). it looks like a Spinal Tap album, and even worse... like Spinal Tap (without the laughs).
if you're aware of all the issues, why not try and fix them up first?
i'm normally not this harsh, but in an age where so many non-IE browsers are actually more standards-compliant than IE, it's kind of unacceptable, unless your intended audience is meant to be that exclusive (in which case you're just a big meanie ).

Bah. When I was scrolling up and down, the text moved way too fast. I really like your selection of music, and your flash work. I think the sounds on the site were a bit too "high pitched" and they hurt my ears. Maybe pick a softer sound that's a bit less technical, and that fits the page. Perhaps the sound of an ocean? By that I mean when you roll over the links.
EDIT: It would be nice if you could, sort of, drag the menu around. But just my opinion.

Thank you so far guys
The music is still experimantal ie its streaming mp3 and is still being optimized for speed etc. Eventually all the backgrounds and music will be in "tune". BTW do enter several times as the backgrounds etc are different and random :-) etc As for "Flash" there is NO Flash on this site it is all DHTML and JavaScript on the client side :-)
Any issues with window sizes, colors etc etc?

Oh, if it is DHTML and Javascript. Then rock on! I still say you should slow down the scroll speed.

I can't get any further from the "You need Quicktime" page, am I supposed to? There's something that goes below my screen but there are no scrollbars!!

don't quite get it
It's an interesting piece of work. Great looks and effects. I saw the image distortion. The intro page is nice, where you can select the full or standard page. The source code has no doc type and is not layed out in any kind of convention.
I would get the code validated with w3c and layed out correctly. I could not get to the code on the main page, as the menus were removed with DOM.
I like it, but what is the point of the site, or is it practice?

I appreciate all the comments and your patience guys :-)
malecon - you will not be able to "validate" my nearly 4000 lines of JavaScript as it is all encrypted... I am testing a few things-but IE6 is giving me probs! Gate$ again!
On Windows IE4+ to IE5.5+ and Netscape 4.+ as well as Mac there should be no probs with just Flash plugin and MediaPlayer. If you have got the "no plugin page" then please do be patient and install it - I really want to know if you all feel that its "worth it" :-) An do eneter a number of times as there is many "random" things. Also, did you discover that you can stop and play music? select new music? did you try to register and log in? upload some your digital masterpieces? hehehe do give me more detailed feedback guys...and I will try hard to please all... well as many as I can.. hehe

agent002 is right. the scrollbars are disabled, and i cant see the rest of the image. you might want to re-implement those scrollbars!

the stuff that gets hidden when scrollbars are disabled isn't visible even with a screen resolution as high as 1024x768. Many people don't use larger resolutions.
