I've created a website for my partner, it's the first one i've done and we can't afford hosting at the moment so it's been hosted on bravenet. Could you have a look and tell me what you think. http://readingsbylouise.co.cc

I just did a quick glance but it looks good and once the ads are removed it will be great. Nicely done!

Thanks for looking, as soon as i can afford it i'll be paying for proper hosting and the adds will be removed.

The site really is simple, the font is too generic, and the text isnt spread the right way.

You should consider making it more attractive to read by adding CSS.

AND have a looksie here, maybe youll find use for it:

I deleted that site and bought a .co.uk domain name and hosted it elsewhere, sorry i should have updated my post. the site is now at www.readingsbylouise.co.uk

The opening page in unnecessary. Unless there is a requirement like Flash or something to view important chunks of the page, no need to add it.

Take into consideration the user when adding involuntary background music...when I'm online, I'm listening to my own music, typically screaming the lyrics to myself

. When some country music starts playing mixed in with my pop/hard rock..things get ugly. Make the soundtrack voluntary, or add a very visible sound player with a pause/stop/play button set.

I would suggest floating the picture of yourself to the right of the page. It takes up a lot of space, making the user look about halfway down just to get a fraction of the more important information. Your font is boring...Times New Roman may be extremely popular, but you will want a more exciting, bolder font, like Trebuchet MS, Georgia, Arial, or any other sans-serif font.

The 'angel hugs' image doesn't make sense with your site. It's confusing why it's there.

I'm using chrome at max resolution (1204 x something), which reads pictures extremely well, and your nav ones are still really pixelated. Try adding a hover image to them, using Javascript.

onmouseover and onmouseout are Javascript events that sound accordingly. Maybe try a reverse gradient onmouseover, like Windows XP has on their arrows and bars. Again, it's really far down, so floating your picture on the right is a necessity.

I'm not a big grammar/spelling/whatever guy, but in this sentance:

"When I was a little girl, I discovered I had a gift. Communicating with those who are no longer with us."

...shouldn't that be:

"When I was a little girl, I discovered I had a gift; communicating with those who are no longer with us."

Another grammar thing, I don't think "Spiritualist" and "Professional Medium" should be capatilized.

Lol, almost done...

should be

"phase! Even now I like to think she still guides me from spirit."

I've always found multiple exclamation marks to be pretty annoying..but that's personal preference there.

The heart at the bottom is cheesy.

Again, the pictures right below the picture of you just don't make any sense.

I give it a 6.5. It could really use some work, but you are doing a good job for someone in the world of olden-fashioned 1990's HTML4.
