HA! I keep saying that i suck at design, but this is the second time that i pulled off a “clean” design that i feel happy with. I would like to get other input to get a general consensus about the design (ignore the content, it is just starting):

To the mods/admins why don't you guys make it MANDATORY that users must post at least 3 replies to reviews before they can post their own website for review? Also, make the start with the LEAST replied to topics, OLDEST first. Or, because they're too lazy to do that, alter your sql for this particular forum to sort by LEAST replied, OLDEST first. This is more fair and equal to the community as a whole.

Making it mandatory to post reviews before asking for one is a great deal of work to enforce. Our mods are here to help, not to babysit. I'll discuss your possible solutions with the guys that do the backend work for the forums. They may have some idea as to how to make it work.

For your site, it's not bad. The most annoying thing about it is that it jumps when you go from page to page. I don't know if that's a javascript thing or not, but make sure you have all your images sized so that the browser doesn't have to guess at a size until the image shows up.

Oh yeah, my images are always the exact display size. I never apply a size attribute because it distorts, and it's not xhtml compliant, and it just doesn't make sense anyway. I don't use any javascript (yet), so i think that may be the google ads doing that. Last week, there was a problem with my organizer site (http://eInformationOrganizer.com) where the javascript from the "Add to Any" at the bottom was causing a 20px margin at the top of the page. It took me forever to track that down! They report their stats to google (used in analytics, etc), so i'm not sure if google writes the javascript for that or not.

I wasn't complaining about the other issue, i just get tired of seeing people who post, but do not help others, or if they do, they help whoever is at the top, even if they've already had plenty of help. I could give you some pointers on how to do that; but it would definitely be trickier to enforce helping those who haven't been helped. As far as checking if they've posted to 3 topics in that forum, you could do modulus mixed with count() and the posts date in the where clause.

Some people who post are only looking for links to their site. They're usually just ad-filled sites and they get forgotten in a hurry. Or moved if I can catch them in time.
