Incase of some sites, we see custom image in the address bar of internet explorer browser window rather than a IElogo, how can we set this?

Eg site: www.codeproject.com

please post in the right forums when asking a question - the contest forum is for contests...

you need a favicon.ico file in the root directory of your site - this can be drawn as a bitmap, and is normall 16x16 pixels.

I have a favicon.ico on the route of my test website, but this doesn't work. Not a biggie, but would be good to know why.

Also, you can use http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/ to generate icons for free if you don't have a program to make icons.

Doesn't work in which browser? IE? Read this.

It is in I.E. I'm at work, and my employers no longer allow us to use alternative browsers (WHY OH WHY YOU MIGHT ASK).

I've tried that but it still doesn't work. I have a free account with Brinkster for my tes site. I can't get it to workIf I enter the domain address followed by favicon.ico it works fine without any problems.

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't. Read the internet explorer pages on www.favicon.com There are some things you have to do to get it to work. Bookmarking the site is one then actually navigating to the site from the bookmark works sometimes.

Bookmarking it and then going back to it worked. Thanks for that
