I would submit an entry, but I'm having one problem:
How can I get the 300dpi?
The only way I've been able to achieve this is by scanning something onto the computer--then it's at 299dpi, but only until I modify it. No matter which program I've used, everything's saved as 99dpi (even those where I was able to specefy "300dpi").
Any program in particular that could help me? This is very frustrating...

You only need to get it to that dpi if you win. Photoshop can do this if you got it. When you start a new document default is 72 pixel/inch or 72dpi, just change the 72 to 300 and your all set.

I can't understand why in my jpg image (see thread above) it is showing with a gray background. The image has a white background. Any clue what I have done wrong?

Juparis.....it sounds like an issue with your scanner. Normally, you should be able to specify the dpi in the scanning software, for the initial scan. Even if you are importing to photoshop, the scanning software is what processes it into photoshop. Is it a really really old scanner? or did you just overlook the dpi setting in the scanning software?

Nicely done, Elizabeth. I see a white background as well.
People, this is a thread concerning the T-shirt design competition, not scanners. Please take that conversation elsewhere.

Peg, I was just wondering, if the logo you posted is the only logo available to design with, how will we make a high-res design for print? It would be much easier to design in high-res, then drop down the resolution to post on here for judging, so the winner doesn't have to design it twice.
I am just trying to help.

Well, that would be one design stumbling block to overcome, wouldn't it? The other thing is that it doesn't have to be a large image. Having a logo about pocket-height would do, too, don't you think?
I'll see if I can make up a vector version of the image for you.

don't worry about it for me...I have already converted it to vector in illustrator, but it was just an overall observation. I didn't know it would be pocket size, it that is the case, the image you provided is fine.
Thanks.

Should be posting vector
Talking from experience, your screen printing company would really rather have a
vector image of your design(s). It makes for cleaner screens as well as makes less
work for them.
I do all mine in Adobe Illustrator. Is there a vector version of the Edison logo that
can be downloaded?

The printer we have chosen only uses jpgs or png files. I have a png version of the logo, but I didn't remove the text. That's not necessary for the image.

I can still open the PNG in AI. I'd like to see mgerbick's vectorized version, too, however.

Yes, but he charges you an arm and a leg for art, correct?
This is because they have to vectorize the raster art they get.
Normally, if you provide a good vector file, they don't charge
so much for artwork.

The reason being is that they can scale to any size with no degradation.
