They're Gone
When I was much younger, I wanted to be an Angel when I grew up. I thought Charlie's Angels were just the finest thing on earth. I wanted to be just like Jill. I think just about every girl on the planet did, judging by the number of Farrah Fawcett look-alikes there were in the school hallways. She wasn't with us for very long, really, but she left her mark on the culture of the times.
Rest in peace and free of pain, Farrah Fawcett.
Another icon has passed, too. In recent years, I've felt more pity for him than anything else, but I still have his old records and still know the words to his music. Michael Jackson and I were the same age but, I think, he had the harder lifestyle. Imagine living a fishbowl for most of your life. It can't have been easy. His music touched us, though, touched us where we hurt and made us feel better, knowing that someone else was out there who felt the same way.
Rest in peace and free of pain, Michael Jackson.

I can't find myself feeling sorry for Michael. Something went really wrong in his head along the way and I don't think any of us will ever really know what made him tick. Whatever he was guilty or innocent of, in the end he became really creepy. I felt awkward anytime they'd show him on TV and I'd have to hear him talk and see that fake nose and all the other things he had done to himself. I feel sad for him .... but that's because of how messed up his life became ...... not the fact that it's over. Sad, I know ..... but the guy really creeped me out :/
I was not around for the Farrah craze but the fact that I knew who she was without ever seeing a TV show or movie she starred kinda says it all.

Yeah, he was kinda creepy. I felt sorry for the way things turned out for him, too. He had such an amazing talent and it was overshadowed by his other actions. Seems such a waste. I have a couple of old albums of his. I should go see if the library has any more. You know, I've never listened to the entire Thriller album, or too many of his other albums. I have HIStory, but it's not the same.

frankly - i blame the parents... none of the jacksons had a normal life - and many "child stars" end up off the deep end. just in the case of MJ, his monumental success would have contributed to even more serious warping.
i don't really feel either way about his death - i didn't know him, and his life didn't really intersect with mine - but i hate that the media and the public are paying more attention to him know than they ever did in the last 10 years.

its true... MJ turned out to be creepy. Its like seeing him on tv makes you say..what the heck happened to him? But then again, his word and his music really inspired a lot of people and made me sad. He's just gone too soon.

That right, Jennie. People love him for his music and it just feels sad that he's really gone.

You can add character actor Karl Malden to the list. He passed away this week, too. And Ed McMahon, of the Johnny Carson show died, too.
It's been one heck of a fortnight for the entertainment industry, hasn't it?

No mention of Billy Mays (the oxyclean/infomercial guy)? Ok, maybe he wasn't an actor, however I have heard he was on TV 400 times daily, and had more air time than any celebrity. He also just started that docudrama called pitchmen (actually wasn't a bad show).

Just because Billy Mays is dead, doesn't mean that you have to try to take his spot pitching stuff that doesn't pertain to our forums. We call that spam. Consider it as our way of changing the channel while the commercials are on.

Oxyclean to remove spam. That's a thought!
With Farrah, we all knew it was coming so not much of a story. MJ was a much bigger international star. And his life had become such a freakshow.
