If you're a Baron's reader, then you no doubtly know which companies are running out of money. Earthweb has been getting closer to the top of this list for a while now, and finally something has been done. There has been a half merger between Internet.com and Earthweb. All IT, Developer, and Webmaster content has been sold! (boy the big just keep getting bigger). ALl that remains of Earthweb now is their job site, dice.com and their certification site.

You can check out the whole story at: http://biz.yahoo.com/mf/001228/news01_001228.html

Looks to me that the mother of all domains and companies dealing with webmaster resources is making its move. Although disappointed with Internet.com's past ventures, I am hoping that with this merger they will re-structure the way they present their web sites as I personally have a hard time finding information on any Internet.com affiliated web site. To me, if I don't visit a site more than 5 times a week then its of no use to me and internet.com has not made itself into the likes of go.com, mp3.com, yahoo.com, etc. I work in internet related business every single day and internet.com is not a site that i frequent much.

There are quite a few Earthweb site's that I have used to find great information from and i think developer.com is one of the best of its kind as I am a programmer. Of course, it seems that most Earthweb employees are to be shafted by this deal with internet.com only keeping mostly salespeople after the half-merger.

Good luck Internet.com to try and become a hot spot for me to visit. I look for new info everyday.

Well I guess I'm not that surprised, with the current market situation, and all the internet based companies going down the tubes. But it just makes it harder for smaller internet related sites to survive... hmmm... I smell monopoly.

I look at the two sites as the aol and time warner of webrelated resources.

I now see earthweb sites sporting a lovely new caption at the bottom of their sites. It reads...

"EarthWeb is a service of internet.com Corporation.
Copyright 2001 internet.com Corp. All Rights Reserved"

Earthweb is a "service" of internet.com? sounds like they have become slaves...

maybe they should change it to: Earthweb is "part of" ...
or "bought to you by"...
