Product/Inventory management database needed

Hello fellow developers.

I have a prospective client who owns a small but growing online pet supplies store. They have been managing their products up until now with HTML, but the business is growing beyond making that a practicable way to manage their inventory.

They want to get their products in a database, but my MySQL skills aren't yet at the level to be able to do that for them.

It wouldn't need to be a very complicated setup - the client would prefer the simpler the better. I'm thinking just a login to an administrative section, and a searchable and sortable table that lists all of their products. The table would show the price, name, description, image file (even a thumbnail), and a few other fields necessary to manage their products.

That table would be read from based on the different types of products they have (cat toys, dog toys, pet care, etc). Each product has a PayPal button to add it to PayPal's external shopping cart system, so no store management needs to be handled on the site itself.

I would appreciate anyone interested to please contact me as soon as they can. Also, please provide some background information and any sites showing work you have done.

Thanks a lot!

- mark

You could abuse a blog to achieve your goals, each product == a post, and they can be categorised at will. Wouldn't take much for you to change the posting form, of the blog software of your choice, to show the fields you need

Hmm - interesting idea, Yabba, but I'm looking for something to be built from the ground up.

Thanks for the input, though!
