You can customize your PC at most retailers.

Do you know what you want the computer to have? example... like a good video card? a good processor? at least 2 gb of ram.. 350 gb of hard drive space?

RAM is your short-term memory. When you type something into a word processor, for example, the information is stored in the RAM until you save the file to the hard drive. If the computer freezes or you have to restart it before you can save the file, you've lost all the work you've done since the last save. At least, that's RAM in a nutshell.

As for the size of hard drive you need, that's personal preference. I'd go with the largest amount you can afford. It'll last a bit longer as far as storing files and programmes.

I have bought three systems from these folks
http://www.pclaptops.com/

If nothing else check out the specs on their systems and watch the crazy ads they have.

Hi Retard,

If you've got a little technical ability, you might consider building your own.

Try this link:

and look at articles 436-441.

Good luck!

In american dollars I'm guessing your budget is around $500, no?

If that's the case you can get some killer deals from HP and acer. I got a dual core 2 GB or ram HP computer with xp pro on it from Tiger direct last week for just under $500 shipped. Didn't come with a monitor but for that price you can't argue.

In today's world you will want around 2gb of ram and a dual core CPU, however, quad core CPUs are now also starting come down in price sharply. The hard drive space will depend on what you will be using the computer for. If you don't download a lot of music or other stuff even something as small as 80GB might work.
