denying access from specific IP's - HTML Forums

Hello, new member here...
Question: On an apache server how can I deny access to people coming from certain IP's without using a password for everyone. I have used an .ht access file before to set a password but this time I just want to deny access to certain IP's. Possible?

Yes it's certainly possible. I can't remember off the top of my head, but a little googling came up with a nice solution on this website: http://home.golden.net/htaccess.html (scroll down to the section entitled Restricting by IP address)

You can do two methods, ban everyone then allow certain individuals through and only ban certain people.

I believe there were some htaccess generators on those google results too, you may find them useful

I added my own IP to the .htacess file and got blocked. Removed it and got access. Perfect. Many Thanks!
