For the longest time, I resisted having to upgrade to a new OS. I *Liked* the Mac OS9.2. It worked just fine, did everything I wanted it to and was generally a nice, comfortable environment to work in.
Then I got the MacPro. MacPro's don't come with OS9.2. They come with OSX10.4 and lots of space to put things. There's only one thing that MacPros *can't* do (besides the dishes and I'm working on that). They can't talk to computers that use Mac OS9.2. <sigh> Back to the drawing board, right? Short of a miracle, there's no way I can get 60Gbs of information off my old computer and onto the new one, is there?

Well, it's semi-officially official. I'm enrolled in the New Media Communications course starting next September. I'm just waiting on one letter and an interview with both my instructor and a counsellor. I went to the registrar's office today and asked if I was on this year's list, and that's what I got told.
So, as of next September, I'll be learning all manner of neat things such as Javascript, Flash and other Oddities of the HTML world. The class uses Dreamweaver Suite to create pages, so I'll have to get an upgrade to the version I have (not that I really need DW for pages). I'll need the Flash part of it for sure and they do design work in Freehand and Fireworks. Photoshop I already have. It may not be the latest version of it, but it does enough to get the job done. I don't really need all the bells and whistles.

I saw a snow bunny yesterday, a black one. He was swimming in the snow bank.
I should probably start from the beginning. Salem has one great hatred - Dino, the neighbour's dog. Dino, on the other hand, has one great love - someone to play with. Dino's not fussy. He likes playing with cats. He doesn't care if they're chasing him or he's chasing them. It's someone to play with.
I let Salem out for some fresh air in the morning. Normally, the cats stay on the porch for about 15 minutes and then want back inside. This time, Salem didn't ask to come in. It didn't dawn on me right away, but when it did, I went to open the door to let him in.

There are a lot of things that you can bring into your house, but if you have pets, especially cats, you have to watch what you bring into "Their Domain". Take, for example, the "Care Package" my sister sent me.
There were three boxes sent, one for me, one for the cats and one for the girls. I had all sorts of knitting and crocheting patterns to drool over and the cats had their box of treats. For the girls, my sister had sent an assortment of herbal teas - lemon, rosehip, chammomile - and something called "Tension Tamer." The girls had great fun reading out the list of ingredients in all of them, especially the Tension Tamer.

No, I'm not talking about the WWII defensive, but one closer to home - the bulge around my middle and the spreading area below that. My doctor also said that I needed to do some serious work on lowering my cholesterol as well as lose about 50 lbs.
The problem, I discovered, wasn't in how much I ate, but *what* I ate. Changing my eating habits is hard. As Garfield says, "diet is die with a T". Or so I thought. That's when I learned about the steps.
Just as you learned to eat one food at a time when you were a baby, changing your eating habits is a matter of changing one food at a time.

Putting a Mac together is a piece of cake, even for a raw beginner. They have all manner of little images on the main cables and connections and you just match the pictures to get your Mac up and running. I know several PC users who put nail polish on the plugs of their cables and matching dots of colour near the connection.
But what about the *insides* of the computer? LIke PCs, Macs don't have pictures on the internal components of the computer. Replacing a hard drive or a CD burner can be a major headache, even if you have the tech manual to look at. So how *do* you put your computer back together again?

I've discussed the matter of colour with quite a few web designers over the years. Some of the designers were surprised that colour can matter significantly in web design. They hadn't thought of colour except in terms of their own logo. There are other reasons why designers should be careful in their choice of colours.
http://www.colormatters.com
I've used this site quite often, referring to it when I need inspiration for a colour scheme, or to make a hodge-podge of colour into something less confused.
http://www.colormatters.com/market_whycolor.html
This particular page gives a great deal of information on why you should use specific colours for certain items from a marketing standpoint. It may not seem like much, but that bright red you're using could be turning people off because it's too energetic a colour for the commodity you're promoting, or it could be that your red doesn't fit in with the consumer's perception of the product.

Mind you, Jason and Scoutt are pretty neat, too, for adding the blogs to the forums. (((hugs))) Thanks, guys!
So, what are you going to be doing with your blog?
Me? I'm still gathering up all the information I've accumulated over the years, sorting it out and trying to decide what fits where.
