I simply love the idea of having a language debate..

Making statements about preference is purely bias rather than objective statements. PHP has is pluses over ASP; but you need to compare languages like JSP against ASP.net. The features are too many to even list in a single post; the subject of OOP alone can't be covered correctly in it.

Show the features of the language for comparison; as i stated the child5 needs to do some research whcih one runs more efficiently as he is way off his rocker to think a scripting language can even remotely come close to compiled code.

Making statements based on the fact of not knowing how to write the code in the first place is misguided as much as it is laughable. It may take a bit of time to code some of the extra features included in .net; however you are missing the point of those features and how much the actually help you as a developer change things like themes without some messy theme manager;

Why doesn't anyone attempt to create an application that pulls the data out and displays in table and lets see how much code it tags to make that work vs .net;

http://quickstarts.asp.net/QuickStar...ViewSimple.src

couldn't be any easier than that with less code or time to drag components from the tool bar.

Dis argument is easy for me.
I did some ASP.NET when I was doing my C# course a couple years ago.
My preference does not come down to actual language: In all honesty, I found ASP.NET (using C#) a lot easier and guided than PHP.
I prefer PHP because I like to go to work scruffy, wearing a cap, unshaven, and work with interesting people, mostly old skool hippy nix geeks.
I chose this path as I prefer being in the new media/design world rather than corporate shmorporate. Bleh, what does money have to do with anything? If that is the only thing that counts, then go ASP.NET cos you will get a better job.
I dislike PHP as a language, but I love PHP because of the world around it, if that makes any sense.
peace!

Edit:
i had to add, these days i will only build web apps using a trusted php oop framework. PHP is powerful if used correctly, my advise: use a framework!
