Getting search engines to pick your site up - HTML Forums

Previously meta keyword tags were used for search engines to pick up websites using key words. Now i understand they use internet spiders that crawl through the internet to find websites.

So, i guess my question is the following:
Is there any way I can make it so that these internet spiders can find my website? Given that I can't use "keyword" metas anymore, is there something else I am supposed to do so that search engines like google can find my site?

I know there is a google website where you just type in the web address you want it to index, but I just want to know if there is supposed to be anything that I need to do for google to find my website.. or do i just wait.. for these internet spiders to come by?

The easiest way is to put a link from another site to your website and the spiders will just crawl from one to the other!

Agreed, But is it okay to generate such links via blog commenting?

Do social bookmarking then, it can help u to be picked up by Google quick!

Yes exactly why not we can but we can do more work to pick up the site for the good page rank do social book marking, then press release, this really will help you to build up the page rank of our site.

I have a site "in the harbor" but use it primarily to get other sites indexed. So - I put three links on their and it gets indexed in about one or two weeks.

I also go to pingler & pingomatic.
