E-mail Marketing

I have a client that wants me to blast 1,000 e-mails out to her subscribers. I haven't done it before...she knows this since I'm more of an "organic" guy. Where do I start with this?

I think sending newsletters to your subscribers would be a normal practice. In my own experiences, all the pop CMS or Cart system would come with a "send mail" feature within its admin area. Just use it would be OK.

BTW, I use such features too send out my coupons, too.

Have a nice day,

First, you need to build up a list of people who are already (or might become) interested in your business by having a signup form on your site. Then you can create the newsletter with information that people on the list might be interested in. Don't forget to include a link to your website in your newsletter.

It is pretty normal to do so. Newsletters are an effective form of direct email marketing. Just make sure to write the news letters correctly and carefully. Make the email feel more personal. And try to put a clever call to action at the bottom of the page.

E-mail marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses electronic mail as a means of communicating commercial or fundraising messages to an audience. In its broadest sense, every e-mail sent to a potential or current customer could be considered e-mail marketing. However, the term is usually used to refer to:

* sending e-mails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or previous customers and to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business,
* sending e-mails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing current customers to purchase something immediately,
* adding advertisements to e-mails sent by other companies to their customers, and
* sending e-mails over the Internet, as e-mail did and does exist outside the Internet (e.g., network e-mail and FIDO).

Researchers estimate that United States firms alone spent US$400 million on e-mail marketing in 2006.
