If the problem was with his table structure then MySQL would inform him that at creation time. Also, indexes, keys or whatever you want to call them are used only on SELECTS, not on INSERT, in fact too many indices can reduce INSERT and UPDATE performance.

So, I think we are straying away from the original problem and my money is on the data going into the database. If he would print the data and query with the data in it then I am sure we would fathom out the problem.

For example, perhaps he is trying to update the data column with a value like 01-01-2005 instead of 2005-01-01. Btw, my comments are based on his original post (not the post a bit further down in the thread where I think he may have made things worse lol)

not neccassarily Lloyd, I agree with you to a point but it can still work its just that the performance would be down the tube. besides the column names being reserved words it maybe the data. I would change those column names as I have seen it do some really off the wall stuff when it encounters a reserverd word. sometimes it is ok and goes past it other times it gives you results that don't make any sense.
