Hi,

I am not sure if I am in the correct part of the forum.

I have created a new version of a website and am making an attempt to put it live on the web. I have copied all the new wwwroot as wwwrootnew onto the ftp server.

I run into a problem when I try to rename the old website as wwwrootold. Here is the error I get:

Command: RNFR wwwroot
Response: 350 File exists, ready for destination name
Command: RNTO wwwrootold
Response: 550 wwwrootold: Access is denied.

Is there a better way to go about this.

hey There,

Are you able to copy the wwwroot's outside of ftp (or does your provider provide a way for you to manipulate permissions)?

You error appears to be that the copied root does not have the same access perms as the original. It's possible that the permissions on the files and/or directory got set so that the webserver (or "other" user) can't read it.

If possible, use ssh, or a graphical "explorer"-type file viewer to check the permissions. If that's not it, let me know and post anything else you find that you think might be relevant.
