SOMEONE stole the name I had made, musichasm, and used it to distribute a toolbar. I can prove I got the name earlier because I signed up for an email account with that name....
is there anything I can do?

yes, but it will involve getting a lawyer and spending more money than you will probably get out of it...

this is the thing with the creative industry - it happens, and most of the time you have to just move on...

um no you cant, you can only get money for earnings you have lost by them using your name (or earnings they have gained by using your name and pretending to be you).

Just because you have registered an email address doesn't mean you have any right to a name, if you had a copyright or had registered as a business and the other people were stealing your customers then you would have a case against them otherwise you dont.

everyone have nail it on the head. emails doesn't prove you own the name. did you register it as a trademark etc..????

The thing is at this this age of time, the internet is an exploding phenomenon, you may not be the only person thinking of that name.

I've time when i thought that i was the only person thinking of a name, and people happens to have it already.
