Getting news haders from other sites. - HTML Forums

Hello.
As far as i know, stealing other work,a news in this example, is illegal. However if somone makes a script that reads news from other site and gets Title of news and header of it's content (not whole news). Then encourages to visit sorurce site to read whole content. Is it legal or illegal?

I'd get permission from the other site to link to their content, I think. Just in case.

Getting only the title and offering link to them is not illegal. Many websites do it.

Search engines can frown upon this just because there are so many sites that do this and bring no extra value. What you should do is offer a short review for each of such links. This way you will please everybody.

And if you are still worried about copying news titles then don't be. Take google news for example. They do it all the time (all search engines copy entire sites when they index them and offer them for cached view). Copying just the titles is no big deal, and as long as you offer links back it should be ok.
