Ok.. This may not be the right forum for this, but here goes...

I work for a web hosting company as a server engineer, they are very strict on being on time and at work and etc. I told them I'd be in 3 hrs early to cover for someone that was out, my car was blocked in and I couldn't get in touch with the owner for a few hours. So incedently, I showed up two hours after I said I'd be in. Can they fire me over something like that?

If they're that strict about attendance and punctuality, then technically, yes, they can fire you over that.

i doubt they'd fire you for one instance - but if this is not an isolated incident, then they could have grounds...
obviously, depending on where you are, there are different labour laws, and in most places in the world it is very difficult to fire you for one time...
I've worked in places with "strict" timekeeping - and they do understand that things happen from time to time (flat batteries, flat tires, broken alarm - all happened to me a few times over six years).
they could have "words" with you about, though - just hang your head and take it...

the only thing is - did you communicate to your superior that you'd be late? obviously, just turning up 2 hours later without contacting anyone wouldn't help your side.
