New guy with html question

Hi Gang. I'm new to html programing and have what will more than likely be seen as a couple of dumb questions but here goes. What do I have to do to eliminate the need to include .html on links to new pages. What I am finding is that
http://mydomain/list.html for example will not work if I type http://mydomain/list

Also the links to html pages that I create will only work if I use lower case letters. What do I have to do to make this work with either upper or lower case.

Thanks a bunch for any help you can supply.

You can't do it....
Here is why. www.mydomain.com/aboutme.html and www.mydomain.com/AboutMe.html are 2 different file names. You can interchange your uppercase and lowercase letters on a domain such as www.MyDomain.com and www.mydomain.com but not on a file name.
On your other question, http://mydomain/list will call a directory because it doesn't specifly a specific file. The only way that would work would be if inside a directory named list, you had an index file (.html, .php, .htm, etc) the extension would not be important, but as long as there was an index file in the directory, then you wouldn't need to specify a file name if you wanted to call the index file with the link.

http://mydomain/list will consider as a folder and if you have folder with name "list" and an index.html file is there then it will return that index file.
