Repeat menu bar on every page? - HTML Forums

I have created a menu bar that runs horizontally along the top of my website (not as a frame) and repeats across every webpage.

I was just wondering if it was possible to insert some shorter code that referenced a text file that contained the menu bar code so that I would not have to put my menu code on every page.

I'm thinking something in CSS might do it, but I'm not sure.

Not CSS, but serverside includes will do what you want.

This does not seem to be working for me. Is it because my links are images? Here is what my code looks like in my site:

<?php include("banner.html"); ?>

And in banner.html I have this repeated several times (for each menu tab):

<a href="index.php" border=0>
<img src="banner/hometab.png"
onmouseover="this.src='banner/homeover.png'"
onmouseout="this.src='banner/hometab.png'">
</a>

Should this be working for me, or am I doing something wrong?

It should work. Where are you hosting the site? It'll have to have php installed on it.

Do your pages have .html or .php extensions? They need to be .php

Should this work on my computer before I have uploaded it, or will it only work once I have uploaded it to my host?

Sorry, but I know next to nothing about php.

.php only works on a server. You can get a mock server for your computer, wamp or mamp (if you're on a Mac). Just google the name. A gazillion sites will come up. You can take your pick.
