Problem with URL in address bar - HTML Forums

I have designed a website in pure HTML coding and uploaded it on to my hosting server. When i visit the site the full URL is not displayed e.g. http://google.com instead of http://www.google.com

PLEASE HELP this is doing my nut in !!!!

Sounds like an issue with whoever you purchased your domain name from. Sometimes it is set up to only work without the www prefix, sometimes only with, and then sometimes it will work with both.

I would advise contacting your DNS provider (whoever you are paying for your domain name).

If you type in the name with the www, does your site come up? It could be just the way your host has configured things. It could be an automatic redirect.

Also, depending on what you have for a control panel, if you are using Plesk, there is an option under hosting settings (I think that is where it is)....Anyway, there is an option that may need to be checked in order for the www to show up. But, unless you just want it that way, it really doesn't make any difference whether it has www or not. Unless, when you use the www you don't get your site. Then you may have a problem that can hurt you with the search engines..
