Lightbulb How to add a link to Flash button?

Hello there,
This is my first post and I'm no pro at web developement, so I would appreciate any help that you guys can offer!

Basically I have made a pretty cool button in Flash, and it works fine -- I have inserted in into my Dreamweaver document fine, but I can't seem to figure out how to make this a link -- I want to make it that when people click the button, they are taken to another page of my site, so I just want to add a link to the SWF object I've inserted.

Please could anyone shed some light on this for me please? How do I add a link? I know it can be done as you see Flash buttons that are links all over the internet (mainly ads!) -- so how do I do it (*using Dreamweaver)? Thanks in advance!

Mike

Please could someone advise me how to do this? It is important for my site, as it is a navigation button! Thanks, Mike

Your answer may take more than half and hour to find, Mike. It's the middle of the night for some people. I'd help, but I'm not familiar with how Flash works. I thought the links were added in the Flash document itself, not as an add-on through an editor.

OK no problem. I have scoured the web and discovered it is actually done using actionscript! I am good with Photoshop but brand new to flash... didn't realise it was so technical. I just want to create nice looking nav buttons with an animation when you click and taking you to a link... didn't realise there was coding/errors involved!
Needless to say I have found some sort of "on release" script... I have actionscript 3.0 plus 1 & 2, Flash cs4. But I keep getting errors! And when I load the flash into my html doc, when I preview, the page just automatically goes to the link!! It doesn't wait until it is clicked, it just forwards you straight to the page.. It's so difficult! My hat goes off to any flash animators out there... its tough!

I am not a Flash Developer, but I have used Flash buttons a few times. Here is a good tutorial that will show you how to create a link with the button.

Try this link. It looks like it gives pretty good detail on how to add a link to a button.

I read over it and it looks like it is pretty thorough.
