Photoshop: Lens Flare in a new layer?

Hi! I have a question.
Is it possible to make a lens flare in a new layer that is tranparant?
Well I know I can fill the layer black and then blend mode = screen, but for me its not helpfull because my header is not a just rectangle but the cars are sticking out. So if I do blend mode screen you will see the black of the fill from the lens flare and thats ugly!

Jenie0109 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
what if you can download a picture of a lens flare? or...
take a picture of a lens flare and crop it out and place it
to your choice of image.

i think that would work. just crop it nice and clean.

HI,

Yes this possible to create lens flare in transparent layer.

Follow the below steps.
1. Create a new layer and fill it with black color.
2. Now apply the lens flare effect.
3. Open channel window and Ctrl+Select the blue channel. You will get a selection.
4. Now open the layer palette , Create a new layer and fill it with white color.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
