Logo Position on website in relation to "graphics Design"

I have a friend who is designing a header image for me for our flyball orginization.

The logo is that of a dog jumping, it's head is on the left hand side. For this reason she is making the image so the dog logo is on the right and the heading information is on the left because "People and animals point to what you are supposed to look at in advertising and print documents". This goes against what I have been told as far as web design goes where you logo should be in the upper left hand corner of the website.

what are thoughts here on this design convention? To me you read left to right regardless of a logo and of the direction an animal is point.

What would be weirder the logo on the right side or the logo pointing away from the information I'm supposed to want you to look at?

Thoughts?

Thanks for any comments.

Both are correct, honestly. The ideal solution would be to flip the dog around. If that's not possible, it really comes down to personal preference, and perhaps the rest of the design.

norebbo.com is an unknown quantity at this point
Placing the logo on the right isn't technically wrong - it can be done if you put some effort into making it a strong focal point. In other words, whatever you put on the left shouldn't overpower the logo.

I've seen it several times before, and it's very nice if done properly!

From what little I know of marketing, having the image after the text, especially an image whose lines move right to left, indicate a tendency to go "backwards". It doesn't indicate progress.

Having the image before the text, even if the image is moving right to left, does indicate a "progressive" attitude because you're not really blocking the ability to read left to right.

Personally, I like the first image you have displayed, but what would it look like if you reversed the dog, making it jump to the right instead of the left? If you had it that way, then you could have the dog after the text, I think. You're not interrupting the line of text.

Thanks for the further comments.

Going to talk it out with my design friend some. It might not be able to reverse the dog based on the text underneath the dog...

We'll have to see. I'm currently using a variation of the second banner with the dog on the right, as it's the one my "wife" prefers....

We'll see.

Thanks for all the comments.

I'm not good at art, but in my opinion, "Comic Sans MS" font is not "formal" to look at. YOu might want to switch on a better font
