First of all, I don't know any HTML, I'll be following a tutorial later this week to learn it, yet I decided to give website lay-outs, a go. Here's what I got so far.
Now my questions are, do I have to add the text on there now? Or will I add it with HTML later on?
And my other question is, how exactly does the slice tool work? Do I just have to slice it all in pieces? Or do I have to add the URL to it too? (If you double-click a slice you can enter a URL, how can I know the URL if I don't even have a site yet?)
You have to slice the images into smaller pieces and then add the text afterwards. The parts that will have text should be put as backgrounds to the section, rather than as contained images.
I believe you can use relative URLs, images/corner1.jpg for example, to create the sliced pieces. You'll need to have an HTML page to hold them, though.
Yeah, I guess I'll just study HTML for a bit till I understand it, and then use dreamweaver. Would that be any good?
Placing ALL those lay-out splices would be one big mess in notepad, no?
Okay.. Well.. I just read about HTML and stuff, some sorta tutorial. But it really didn't explain me how I should apply a lay-out. I don't really think it matters, I'll just use dreamweaver to apply the lay-out and change everything else manually I guess.
Ugh, I'm really sorry for posting here all the time, but honestly, I'm totally clueless
I'm following this tutorial to make the lay-out: http://www.grafpedia.com/tutorials/d...rdpress-themes
As you can see they add text there on the PSD file? Don't you add text with HTML later? :S
And can anyone tel me how I'm supposed to slice the lay-out I created using that tut? And maybe step by step explain the coding?
Thanks! I've read it! I understand some more now Afraid that tut is only about single images though, and I'm working with a whole lay-out
Also, I'm working on my lay-out some more, and I've made some sort of box called 'On my mind', I want to be able to place pictures and videos inside there, is that possible? And can I just draw a 1pix border box inside there in which I can add my pictures and videos later?
Here is an image:
Gee, this is really hard, didn't expect just HTML and a lay-out to be this hard

It's time-consuming more than hard, I think. What I'll do is move this thread over to the HTML/XHTML Forum and someone there with more experience in templates can see what they can do.
Ugh, I guess I looked over something, all the time when I was slicign and clicked, save for web, it was Images only, I saved it as HTML and images (.html), now, I guess that makes stuff some easier, will mess around with my HTML file for a bit in dreamweaver now
Yay! Finally some succes! Managed to get the whole stuff into dreamweaver!!
Now all I need to do is figure out how to type text on the green area! Because now it treats it as an image I need to make it the background or somewhat?

Yay, I managed to add text on the green part (although it goes to the gray part when I open it in firefox.. It's probably something with the code)
I've got a question about dreamweaver though, if anyone can help me with that?
How can I get my buttons to change when I mouse over them?
Insert -> image object -> rollover image, doesnt work because it ruins my lay-out, here's some pix.
I want:

Using insert -> rollover image makes it like:
