      .edu and .gov backlinks dont have much of an impact on your SERPs anymore unless you're putting them on a niche/topic relevant page that has a higher PR/PA.

            Is it really realistic that 150 .edu sites are going to decide to start linking your website overnight? Maybe if you're opening a school. Surely Google will notice this deliberate spammy SEO tactics.

                all depends on how you are using them actually. many things changed in SEO over the last few years. if used properly, edu/gov links can be useful for building 2nd and 3rd tier links.

                they will not put any weight on ranking your money site however. not recommended for tier 1 links anyways but for t2 and t3, yes.
