what's the terminal command to do this ?

Depending on the security configuration of your Web server the recommended default permissions of 755 for directories and 644 for files should be reasonably secure.

    thanks

At a command prompt type the following:

    Code:
    #:chmod 755 directory
http://www.osmike.com : open source and operating systems!

        Directory and file permissions

For directories the permission syntax is drwx

and for files the permission syntax is rwx

If you do not familiar with the terminal commands, you can choose the hosting with cpanel,it is very easy to modify the permission through graphical interfaces.
