RysChwith will become famous soon enough
You can do that pretty easily using just the timeline.

1. Place the first image on frame 1.
2. Move the play head out to about frame 10.
3. Press F6. This creates a new keyframe and duplicates the image on it.
4. Move the play head out to frame 20 and press F6 again.
5. Making sure that frame 20 is still highlighted, click on the image on the stage.
6. In the Properties panel at the bottom, you should see a field for "Color." Set it to "alpha" and set the value to 0.
7. Click on the timeline somewhere between frames 10 and 20.
8. In the Properties panel, look for "Tween." Set it to "motion." [1]
9. Create a new layer.
10. With the new layer selected, move the playhead to frame 10 and create a new keyframe.
11. Place your second image on the stage.
12. Drag the new layer below the first layer.

Those steps will create a basic fade for you. Repeat those and you should be able to make your slideshow.
