How to make a very simple slideshow

Hello to everyone! My goal is simple. I want to create a very simple slideshow that fades between several pictures that loops. And the only interactivity that I want is a simple pause button.

Then this part I am not sure that I want to include. If I make it more advanced I want a bar on the bottom of the .swf to pop up when you roll your mouse over it. And on the bar you can either select a left or right arrow to skip to the next picture or you could just select a thumbnail of one of the pictures from anywhere in the slideshow and it would jump to that picture.

So far I have made a slideshow like the one stated at the very top (with the execption of the pause button.) However, I just made it using keyframes and motion tweens to fade into the next picture. I would assume there is a simpler (smaller) way of accomplishing this simple task using Action Script 3. Correct?
