Question Need help planning a move

I wasn't sure where to put this. It didn't really seem to fit anywhere. Since there is a database involved, I opted for here.

I have a website - www.titus2homemaker.com - which has been around for a few years. At some point I added a blog, on a subdomain - blog.titus2homemaker.com. Now that I have the blog, the static portion of the site doesn't really get updated, so I'm thinking about migrating the content over to the blog, then allowing the blog to take over the primary domain. I have two concerns with that.

Number one: the blog itself. I have a WordPress database installed in the "blog" subdomain. I'm not sure how I would go about moving that. I'm guessing there are edits I would have to make to the database or something related to it, to let it know to look someplace else for the proper files. But I'm pretty php (and sql) clueless, so I'm not sure what.

Number two: the blog has decent linkbacks, so I would want to have something at the "blog" subdomain to either officially forward people to the new location at the primary domain, or at least a link directing them to go there manually.

Is it possible to have the primary domain just somehow redirect to the subdomain? In other words, to leave the blog right where it is (so all links, the database, etc. remain intact), but change www.titus2homemaker.com so that it also goes to blog.titus2homemaker.com?

What impact will either of these options have on search engine traffic?

I'm not planning to jump into this next week or anything; I'm still investigating my options. However, I don't really know at this point what options I really have, given my ignorance of all of these elements of the process. Alternative suggestions are also welcome.

Yeah, making a redirect from titus2homemaker.com to blog.titus2homemaker.com should be pretty easy, if you have a cpanel then you should be able to do it directly from there under one of your options - and if you do a 301 redirect then it will still be good for search engines. If you don't have a cpanel then you need to manually put a 301 redirect in an apache .htaccess file.

Well, if that's doable, that's almost certainly the easiest/simplest way! Do you happen to know where I should look in the cpanel?

In the domains section of your cpanel, there should be an option that says "redirects", although not every hosting company is the same.

I'm not familiar with them but what I would recommend is browsing your domain control panel on their website and look for something called "Forwarding." If you enable this function you can redirect users to the new site. You can also do something called "masking" which means that the url will display the original domain if you so wish.

What would be my options for doing this the other way around? (Moving the blog to the new location and having the old one redirect there?) What would that do to my search engine rankings?

These finer points elude me.
