you have set a color but no background-color type warnings

Hi all,

So I have a slew of warnings on my css stating:

You have no background-color set (or background-color is set to transparent) but you have set a color. Make sure that cascading of colors keeps the text reasonably legible.

Now of course these warning cause no validation issues, and as I have my page, I do believe that the cascade does keep things legible, so my question of the guru's is.

1) Should I care? I mean a warning is just a warning right?
2) If I want to be anal (that's my gut), what is the best way to apply the background-color to my elements? use the inherit value for the property since I cascade well, or set a generic color?

It seem to me setting them to be inherit is the correct method of removing this error and should work, but wanted to ask the masters here. I did this with one element and it seems to do what I think it should.

My css file: http://homepage.mac.coms/tudogvetmed/fhf.css

Thank you in advance for any comments.

You can add:

background-color: inherit;

to your link CSS and that will get rid of the warnings. It's to prevent people from having links that are the same colour as the background for usability/accessibility.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I've been trying to take semantics and standards very seriously, even though my audience likely doesn't know a header from a paragraph to a list, but I do. My wife wants me to get a WYSIWUG editor so she can help "code" the pages, but I've come a long was from Claris Homepage, and I don't want to go back!

I'm playing with the trial of Coda and I'm trying to keep the drool off my keyboard. It's such a neat little mix of text/graphics/drag/drop editing that still gives me clean valid code. It's on sale... Just have to talk the wife into letting me drop the cash on it.

Thanks again.

*lol* I bought Creative Suite3 - the Master Collection - a few months ago. I'm *still* playing with all the toys and trying not to drool on the keyboard.
