[RESOLVED] 'fixing' DIV tags and keeping scrollable text - HTML Forums

Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I hope to be able to have all my questions answered here and indeed be able to help those who I am able to help along the way.

I have a problem (surprise!) with CSS.
The site I am working on for a friend is designed in such a way that I need relevant DIVs around the edges to be "fixed" (not move while scrolling text) while leaving the text able to be scrolled.

the site looks like 'untitled.jpg' for reference.
I have also attached an easier to follow picture of how i've laid the site out. (simple.jpg)

The main problems is the DIV Id "bottom_img" will not center itself on the page, even though I have (as you can see in the pic on the right) both margins set to "auto".

I want ALL div tags to stay where they are (fixed) but I want the text to still be scrollable.

If you need me to explain things clearer please let me know. Hopefully this is an easy thing to solve.

Try adding overflow: scroll; to the div's CSS.

Awesome. ok that saves TONNES of fiddling with the rest of the DIV tags. thanks for that one.

Stupid question perhaps? Is there a way to get rid of the new set of scroll bars that have appeared?

You can set it to overflow: auto; and that'll only bring the scrollbars up if they're needed.
