is possible to specify a height for a div element having the same height of my browser window ?

in other words, I want my element background to continue until the browser bottom border

Hello aneuryzma,
height:100% will do it but may not have dependable results for you.
I have a full-height layout demo here that is pretty easy to copy. That can be done with or without the footer in the example.
