CSS Flyout Menu and IE

Well while I got my menu working and looking how I wanted it I am having a problem in IE with it. If you start at the top of the menu and go down the flyouts don't flyout out. If you start at the bottom and go up the flyouts work and come out like suppose to. Problem is they stay out even you mouse isn't over it. You have to go back down the menu with your mouse for them to close. Is their a fix for this or something I missed. In Firefox it works perfect.

Here is the link

Here is the CSS for the menu only....

Code:
#avmenu {
clear: left;
float: left;
width: 150px;
margin: 0 0 10px 0;
padding: 0;
font-size: 0.9em;
}

#avmenu li ul { /* second-level lists */
		position : absolute;
		left: -999em;
		margin-left : 12.29em;
		margin-top : -1.76em;
	}

#avmenu ul {
list-style: none;
width: 150px;
margin: 0 0 20px 0;
padding: 0;
font-size: 1.1em;
}

#avmenu li {
margin-bottom: 0px;
}

#avmenu li a {
font-weight: bold;
height: 17px;
text-decoration: none;
color: #505050;
display: block;
padding: 3px 0 0 10px;
background: #f4f4f4;
border-left: 4px solid #cccccc;
border-bottom: 1px solid #cccccc;
}

#avmenu li a:hover {
background: #eaeaea;
color: #800000;
border-left: 4px solid #FF0000;

#avmenu li ul {
/* second-level lists */
position : absolute;
left: -999em;
margin-left : 11.05em;
margin-top : -1.35em;
	}
}

#avmenu li:hover ul ul, #avmenu li:hover ul ul ul, #avmenu li.sfhover ul ul, #avmenu li.sfhover ul ul ul {
		left: -999em;
	}

	#avmenu li:hover ul, #avmenu li li:hover ul, #avmenu li li li:hover ul, #avmenu li.sfhover ul, #avmenu li li.sfhover ul, #avmenu li li li.sfhover ul { /* lists nested under hovered list items */
		left: auto;
	}

/*
#avmenu li a:hover {
background: #eaeaea;
color: #286ea0;
border-left: 4px solid #286ea0;
}

*/
Here is the HTML for the menu

Code:
<div id="avmenu">
<h2 class="hide">Menu:</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="christmasstory.html">The Christmas Story</a></li>

<li><a href="faq.html">FAQ</a></li>
<li><a href="#">Photos</a>
  <ul>
      <li><a href="2007photos.html">2007</a></li>
  </ul></li>
<li><a href="#">Videos</a>
  <ul>
      <li><a href="2007videos.html">2007</a></li>
  </ul></li>
<li><a href="guestbook.html">Guestbook</a></li>

afterburn will become famous soon enough
time is given by members and moderators as a fun hobby; most users have to do things while at work so i am sure your comments are unneeded.

Right.... 31,580 members and in 3 days only 30 people see this post and the first response I get in those 3 days is one that is of no help. Go figure..... This site use to be a good forum to get help, looks like things have changed. I have never had to wait more then 3 days for a response, yet more then a couple of hours. With 31,580 you would think this would be a fairly active forum but looking at the activity of the threads it's easy to see it is not. So while you might think my comments are unneeded, I am only speaking the truth.....

Don't quote me on it, but it seems to me that IE doesn't like :hover on anything but <a> tags. That could be part of your problem.

The comments on the forum, however, were uncalled for. Not everyone has a burning need to work out how flyout menus should be written, so you may have to wait a bit for someone to work out the problem for you.

OMG - a site with unpaid volunteer contributions can't answer every question that is posted on there...

Or should I now be PM'ing you directly as soon as one of my questions doesn't get answered here?
Or about when you don't personally answer one of my questions?

This is a really good forum with knowledgeable people who are generally easy-going, and that makes it all the more accessible because there is none of the "OMG you don't know that" crud happening here...
But, sometimes those knowledgeable people are taking a break - on holiday, or just busy in RL (I know I don't get on as much as I used to/would like to)..

Or you could realise that the server has just gone through a hiccup in that last week, and some threads got misplaced/unread....

As has already been said, this forum is run by volunteers -- people who help because they want to. Your comments are not only arrogant, but also lack a purpose -- if your goal is to receive help, you've just destroyed most of your chances of receiving it. Remember, we're under no obligation to help people if we don't want to...and frankly?I'd be surprised if anyone, on any forum, would help you...considering your attitude.

Your lack of regard for basic forum etiquette only serves to cause those who might otherwise provide help to think twice about doing so. I don't expect anyone here to help you after your comments in this thread, and quite frankly, I hope they don't.

Web developers are people, too. The sooner you learn we aren't your personal slaves, the sooner someone might take pity on you under the guise of a "brief period of immaturity".
