Prevent Direct Linking - HTML Forums

How is this achieved- securing an entire PDF folder from direct linking? I have a Windows server running IIS. I want to prevent users from trading my member only content access to PDF docs in a folder.

I saw this example on the Better Homes site. What technology is being used?

If you are using asp.net membership provider, you can set a directory to be accessible only to logged in users. You can use ASP.net Configuration button in the solution explorer to do that.

or you can use a HttpModule to control the access
