basic help with hierarchical menu script

Hi, I have never used javascript in my life before today; so this is probably gonna sound very lame to most of you, but could anyone help me get this script to work? http://www.a1javascripts.com/dhtml/site_navigation/hiermenu/hiermenu.html

I have edited the menulistedit to fit my needs, but for some reason, it does not do the highlight on mouse over and does not bring up the next menus on click. (I have created them so they should come up when I click)
