Hello all. I'm new here, but looking for advice on ways that I can spice up my web site, whether it be content-wise or the visual department. It's a new site, so I'm still developing it, of course, but I figure maybe some people can offer their advice!

I'm really open to any suggestions! Thanks in advance. The web site should be in my signature as well.

the articles page should probably say that it contains links to external sources as i was expecting a range of articles on your site. other than that, more content and style it up in a way you like or you think your visitors would like. content is always king imo, but a bit of colour and style never hurt anyone ;)

Yea I agree with you!

I am still trying to figure out a way that I will put the articles onto the site. So, for now they are just outside links. I do it all manual so I'm thinking about some sort of article posting cgi/perl script but I'm just not sure if there is something out there like that.

More content is definitely coming as well! I only made the site maybe a couple weeks ago too.

However, when it comes to aesthetics, I have a blank! I've never really been too into the glitz and glamour, but I know other people are! What do you think would look nice, or something that you might try? I'm really open to suggestions, but layout and design has never been my forte!

Thank you for the input!

maybe consider something like the following:

blogger.com
wordpress.org
wordpress.com
typepad
stikipad

Start with a picture or banner for the top related to your site
Then put a menu (vertical or horizontal) maybe simple css or drop down
In sample workouts - you should include pictures or drawings of positions
and workouts
maybe pictures of which muscle groups you are developing
in the menu (if dropdown) you can have under articles - different headings or categories
hope this helps

Thanks, but can you specify more on this? Maybe an example of a site you consider good that a similar type would work for my site?

You shouldn't use the ideas of other people website to build your own how on earth are you supposed to improve and be original. If this Website is a personal one for you incorparate things you will think will make it look good for example i designs stuff for fun and for my friends heres a little snippet ive been working on

I didn't mean give me another site so I can copy that, but I was asking for examples of something that he thought is ideal. That's all. I wouldn't want to make a site that already exists... what's the point of that?

hmmm ideas well i would start with colour scheme of light blue and silver and white clean colours, also gives it a professional look depending on the way its put together.
you could start with that.

Alright, well I redid some things here and there. I think it looks better although it is primarily still the same (and certainly not finished just yet).

Looking for more feedback, comments, and whatever! :D

I'll list the things I like and the things I dont like about this website. These are just my views. Also, this is not to be taken personally.

Like:

The banner
I think the plain background works well on the page.
The video page is nice. It brings more interest to the page and keeps people on the page longer.

Don't Like:

home page - The bodybuilder on the home page doesnt seem natural. he doesnt blend in with teh background very well and the head is squared off unnaturally. The homepage is not visually attractive to me at least. Include more content I would say. Make it stylish.

page transition - when I see this in a site I just think cheesy. (not mocking you from your post on mine) but it reminds me of my old geocities page. I dont see a lot of professional sites use this.

creatine page - tons and tons of words. maybe some pictures and links? Isnt there other stuff besides creatine that people take. I didnt read through the page (the page doesnt make me watn to read it) but isnt there other stuff rather than creatine like whey protein that you could include. Maybe a tab at the top that says supplements instead of just creatine.

Ideas :) :

explain the types of lifts. include pictures. include improper and proper ways of doing these lifts. (later on maybe you can sell technique videos on your page ;) )

to me your page reminds me of mine. a banner, then the site nav bar, then some content. Maybe take what you didnt like about my page and apply it to yours

I hope this in depth review helps out a lot. I appreciate your honest review and I am going to make changes on mine.

Very nice review Lunchboxx10. I hope that you will view my upcoming thread.

I like your site bodybuilding. I am brand new to having a website/designing one myself. But as a viewer, I appreciate websites that do not attack my senses with lots of moving parts, color/glitter, boxes, buttons everywhere! Simple yet attractive.

We all know that it will be constantly changing because you are just beginning. New things will be added. So it will be full of content eventually. Good Luck!

Great reviews! Thanks all!

And I don't take offense to an honest review :) . If I thought my page was perfect I wouldn't ask for help :) . Thanks again.
