This actually looks pertty similar to namezero. They still put a large frame on the page with a banner, and ads on both sides of the banner for themselves, Good find though. Jalouda, do you feel like adding this to 123webmaster? :D

Sure Jason,
I will add the link in the next couple of days. While I'm on the subject, sorry for the lack of activity for the past number of weeks. I have been really busy - like anyone else isn't! LOL

I recently recalled an email that I received a few months ago that I received from register.com about the launch of namedemo. It is a "chain letter" form of marketing. I received this email not through a mailing list, but from someone at the company that I had business contact with. The letter reads as below. What do you all feel about this type of "marketing"?

Greetings my friend!

I have a favor to ask.

My company recently launched a new service giving away domain names for free. Its called NameDemo, and you can access it at http://www.namedemo.com. I need you all to go there, register your free domain name, and then send this email out to at least 10 of your closest friends. (The more names registered on this site, the better my marketing department looks.)

This is no joke people. The very day after John Brinks of Spokane, WA got this email and only sent it out to 7 people, he stubbed his toe while getting out of the bathtub and chipped some of his recently trimmed toenails. Although he was planning to wear sandals that day, he couldn\'t show the world his chipped toenails, so he had to wear shoes. Unbeknownst to Mr. Brinks, there was a small spider in his left shoe that bit him after he put it on. Within 4 hours, Mr. Brinks had the itchiest foot in all of Washington state.

Don\'t let the same fate befall you, my friend!

Anyway, the deal is that when you give us 10 or 11 pieces of un-verifiable information, we\'ll give you a free domain name and email address with that domain name. So, when I registered coldsesamenoodles.com for free, I also got phil@coldsesamenoodles.com as an email address. Gotta love modern technology, right?

So go to http://www.NameDemo.com and register your free domain name. Then you can have your own web page, a personalized email address for all your friends to email you at, and feet that don\'t itch.

Thanks, and enjoy.

Name Zero owns any domain name registered through them. Why would anyone chose to register a nifty, maybe money-making name with them when you can reister and own a name for $15.00. The domain names registered through Name Zero are licensed to you but owned by them. I see serious legal problems for anyone registering through them.

I think their idea of marketing sucks Jason, as if inboxes aren't stuffed with enough junk already and the toenail thing wasn't even funny LOL i didn't think a business contact would spam you. mind you, my attitude mightn't get you very far in business though! do you really want to generate traffic for them by adding them??

Feel free to post all potential downfalls Jalouda, but our mission is just to provide an informed decision, and let the visitor make a decision. While I strongly reccomend against a business even considering namezero, and namedemo, it's still a nicer URL for a personal website user than redirect.to/flowergarden, or geocities.com/flowergarden. I do see it causing problems in the future though, such as eating domains at an even faster rate than currently, and the legal conflicts mentioned above.
