installing fonts automatically

Is it possible to check for a certain font on the user's computer and, in case it doesn't exist, download and install it automatically? I mean, is there a code that can do this? Or will i have to stick to images or flash if i want to use a font that a lot of people don't have? The font is required for the site because of the site's contents, so i can't do without it.
