Hi

I have just received a new fancy dan, flat screen monitor at work. The default colour settings are too contrasty and too bright. I cannot tell the difference between greys and blues.

I have visited a couple of site to calibrate my monitor, but I cant seem to get within the colour ranges it proposes.

Does anyone have any advice on how to set the balance correctly. Or should I just ask for my old monitor back??

Cheers

Langer

I know with a Mac, I can set the monitor information from the computer. I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing with a PC, though. I'm just not sure where you'd find the section.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am using a PC. I have done some searching and apparently windows should come with Adobe Gamma, a tool for calibrating the monitor, but which I dont seem to have.

Does anyone know where I can find this?

Windows does not come with it, you have to install it. Most of the time I have seen it come with Adobe Photoshop. I do not know if it is a separate download at Adobe.

But it also relies on your video card. You should have gamma settings on your card in the display properties->advanced tab. Most LCD like the resolution of 1280x1024 as they run cooler there. What graphic card do you have? What refresh rate is it set at?
