View Full Version : 175k hits/day and still can't make money
I have an adware program that has an extremely visible advertisement and can't be minimized or anything. I get over 175,000 hits per day on my banner rotation and I still can't make any money off of it. No companies are honest and the ones that are don't want to trust a piece of software as apposed to a webpage. And if i join web3000 or something i'd have to come up with a new version and if they don't pay then i'm stuck with giving them extreme amounts of free advertising for the entirety of the version date. I've tried selling the advertising space and the few who take a risk and join love it but don't tell there friends in fear of having to share the hit volume with them, but no one wants to join because they don't want to trust their money with a noname company and and lower i go on my price the more it seems like a "too good to be true" deal. I seem to make more money with a dishonest and rude spam advertising business then a honest and legit cpc/cpm campaign.
I'm really in a pickle does anyone have any suggestions.

See if you can get testimonials to use on your site from companies that are/have advertised there in the past. Maybe you could give them a slightly reduced rate for using their name and statements.
Use the eBay principals. When a certain number of people have good things to say about a service you provide, then they are more willing to buy space from you.
If the companies you currently use are fearful of having to share hits when you ask for testimonials, then maybe you could come up with contract advertising. Have each page, or section at a different rate. Obviously the main page would be more expensive than the others. Then lock in the advertising in with a "contract". Give the company exclusivity for a particular position and/or page for a set amount of time (say blocks of 3 months).

A-men to that! When you seriously do want to purchase something - be it advertising or software - whatever, there are so many scams and rip offs, it's extremely hard to sift through it all and know who to believe! Sheeze!

I'm gonna take your advice on the testimonials thing. What a great idea.
For the people wanting more information: my program is called Tcp/Ip Accelerator. You guys have probably heard of it, it was the most popular program on the internet for awhile. You can download it at http://eli.d2g.com/download.html
for advertising information you can go to

for anyone wanting more information or has any more great ideas for me you can contact me at elimail@lycos.com I appreciate it.

I would give away trial advertising to several people then let them have a taste of what they get when they buy adverting in the future. Then people will tell people and give you good marks and there you go. Your selling ad space.

170,000 hits eh that is a useless bit of info
that could meen 170,000 visitors if you page has no
Frames
Images
and only one html page.
It could mean that you 10 visitors if you have many of the above.
What you are after is "unique user Sessions" or "Sessions" not "hits"
is 170,000 hits a day or a year??
