need help accessing folders using htaccess

Ok, I need some help. I recently put up a section for my gaming clan here (http://www.sedativechunk.com/subliminal_forces/home.php).
Well, I am looking for recruits and the best way to give them info is to show them the clans website. Problem is, I don't want them to have to enter www.sedativechunk.com/subliminal_forces/home.php, as its to long and half of them don't know what php means and is confusing.
How can I configure my site so that if someone goes to the url www.sedativechunk.com/subliminal_forces, it will show the homepage with the URL www.sedativechunk.com/subliminal_forces/home.php? What should the permissions be?
Yes, I am using Linux to comminicate with my sites files and stuff like that. It has a re-direct tool, but my site is an addon domain, therefore it does not let me add redirects for my site so I thought I would dive into the idea of using htaccess beings I have a server that supports apache.
Again, one I am trying to accomplish is making the url shorter, so when people go to sedativechunk.com/subliminal_forces it will bring them to the home.php page and not list all the folders and files under subliminal_forces like it does now.
