H1 that is always a poor answer to any question. Most of the time people don't understand it. Besides that it generally is a good idea to use the .com rather that .co.za
sorry afterburn, I will try phrase my answers better in the future.
Something like, have your tried asking google what is java?
would that be good for your afterburn.. on the contrary you contradict yourself, i fail to see how your answer helps at all

i wasn't attempting to answer the question, but pointed out use the .com.....
i am not sure the user actually wants to know java. From the question it sounds if they are confused from javascript or java. So any input other than asking to clarify the question would be pointless.
I am sure that most are confused about the information that google or other search engine provides, considering searching "what is java" returns
Results 1 - 10 of about 137,000,000 for what is java. (0.15 seconds)
If you ask me thats overwhleming users, redundant, and most of the time just misleading information on some sites that do not go directly to the original technology creator.

You are speculating afterburn. There is no basis to say where he has and has not looked, nor is there any basis to say whether providing the idea to search google is helpful or not. Any help is still help, and it isn't fair to ridicule other people's donations to the effort.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language) Piles of information there boyo1991. The best general explanations will come from what has already been written. But, given a specific question we could certainly answer that for you.

erisco,
You have no basis in not giving him the benifit of doubt. And it wasn't a valid answer it was a i am not going to help you if you can't find a search engine with 137 million results for the question. Don't assume that everyone is stupid or has a lower IQ than you. what i stated is not up for judgement by you, if other moderators find that it wasn't valid then that is another story. Its unfair of you to assume any of that you know he wants java, more so when he is in a PHP forum.

afterburn, nothing is of stupidity, it is of not knowing. It isn't any fault to not know keywords to search for, or not know where to look. Now <h1> came by with what he could offer to the situation at the time. It isn't up to you to turn that down. In no way am I saying he wants to know the Java language, but he hasn't said he doesn't, and I provided nothing but a link to Java information. God help me if I cannot object to someone's comments afterburn, my account here may not have moderator status and abilities, but I am just as much of a person as you are. Treat me like one.
boyo1991, I apologize for my disruption here.

A slightly better search would be http://www.google.com/search?q=%22what+is+java%22 (with the quotes). This narrows it down to 177,000 results and the second result is this : http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fjava.sun.com%2Fdocs%2Fbooks%2Ftutorial%2FgetStarted%2Fintro%2Fdefinition.html&ei=_lFJRaHtMoGysALG5r2VCg&usg=__R6u1QDbFk3i4sU7UgkLQnM2_hBE=&sig2=7rjMKeiGAtWqrjJdkYsPLg, which explains the Java technology fairly well.
I didn't want to assume that boyo there was confusing Java with javascript, as there was no evidence to suggest that he was. With the original question being a little vague, I think it was reasonable to assume that boyo hadn't asked our good friend Mr Google. <h1> asked if he had or not. I don't see anything wrong with that.

i do not think anyone asking a question hasn't done at least a little bit of research before asking. And it ins't reasonable BonRouge.
Well you have to read into it HTML and java itself doesn't work happen, java in JSP can return HTML but you don't post it. However to include/post it you would have to deduce that it would be a static/client language.
