It seems that the Middle East is starting to tear itself apart over some kidnapped soldiers.

It amazes me how radical some of these people get. I cannot believe that some people think that God is tells them to kill other men. I'm not sure if I believe in a higher being or not, but the God that I have learned/read about would not condone violence like this.

Is there ever going to be world peace?

I know its an ongoing story with that region. The different attacks today brought this thread up.

World peace will probaby be a myth. Some people just don't get along and never will.

The US has no business interfering in the policies and procedures of the Middle East. It's not US soil, nor are they defending US citizens.

Having said that, no, there probably won't be peace in the Middle East any time soon. They've been fighting for centuries. I don't think they'd know what to do with peace. There's so much hatred on both sides.

And Mikey, you've hit the nail on the head. The God Who Loves The World wouldn't approve, I don't think, of the way things are going down in the Middle East. The problem lies, in part, in which diety you're referring to. Your viewpoint depends on which diety you follow.

Maybe if the politicians left war to those who know it best, the soldiers, there wouldn't be any more wars.

The problems of the middle East are hundreds of years old, and are built on multiple atrocities from all sides...

World Peace? There hasn't been World Peace since Ug smacked Og over the head with the thighbone of a sabretooth...

Actually, it is a biological imperative that we must clash - the biggest threat to survival of a group of individuals is from the same species... unfortunately, our social brains still can't seem to override certain aspects of our long bloodied ancestry.

Peg, its just interesting that some of the people believe in Islam and are bombing/killing for "Allah". Yet there are hundreds of millions of people who believe in the same religion who don't do this.

I think the worlds problems are far greater than just the troubles in the Middle East. I can't speak for the rest of the world, but with the way people act in the US it seems that their goal is self destruction.
