Slideshow Javascript

Hi there. I have a Java applet that fades one picture into the next very smoothly as a slideshow, but it takes too long to load. Are there any Javascript equivalents that fade or bleed pictures one into the next? It doesn't matter if it's a pixellated effect.

One great site for js image effects is www.24fun.com. (http://www.24fun.com.) They have all kinds of great stuff and have full working examples of everything. It's updated with new stuff quite a bit too. That would be where I would look first.
